City Hall approves Municipal Plan for Immigrant Integration

Praia,  Sep 3 (Inforpress) – The City Hall of Praia approved the Municipal Plan for Immigrant Integration (PMII) aiming at the full integration, citizenship and well-being of immigrants and their families in the country’s capital.

According to the Official Bulletin (B.O.) of this Monday, the deliberation was approved at the ordinary meeting of the local authority on August 22.

According to the document, the City Hall, since 2009, has been developing local policy instruments, namely through the institutionalization of a municipal date, creating conditions of equal access to education for immigrant children and descendants of immigrant communities, promoting and supporting immigrant associations headquartered in the municipality. In the B.O. it can be read that the number of immigrants in the municipality represents, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), 4.9 percent (%) of its population.

According to local authority, the PMII emerges as part of the development of national policies for the reception and immigrants social inclusion.
