Praia, Aug 5 (Inforpress) – The organization of the International Film Festival “Djârfogo Cine-Fest” today called on national filmmakers to participate in the second edition of the event and announced the creation of a film school based on the island of Fogo for short.

The appeal was launched by the executive director of the “Djârfogo International Film Festival” (DIFF), Guenny Pires, in a press conference to talk about the preparations for the event, which will take place on the island of Fogo, from November 8 to 12, with preview in Praia, on the 7th and welcome of the President of the Republic.

The event, which will honor African cinema personalities and Fogo’s culture, according to his promoter, aims to create a brand of the country promoting the history and culture of “guentis” (people, in Portuguese) and the island of Fogo, as part of the World Biosphere Reserve, as well as the environment and nature of Chã de Vulcão.

“For this edition we are working to bring films to speak on conservation and environmental protection, as well as films made by women,” said Guenny Pires, noting that the intention of the festival is also to link culture and cinematography.
