Praia, Jun 25 (Inforpress) – The municipality of Ribeira Grande de Santiago will soon have the Cidade Velha Archaeological Map, which will provide guidance on archaeological remains and guide urban management, the director of monuments and sites told Inforpress, Jaylson Monteiro.
As part of the celebrations of the 11th anniversary of the elevation of the Cidade Velha to World Heritage by UNESCO, which will be celebrated on the 26th, the Cultural Heritage Institute will hold a ‘Webinar’ (online seminar) for public presentation of the Cidade Velha Archaeological Map.
This archaeological map, according to the Director of Monuments and Sites, is one of the management plan projects of Cidade Velha for 2022, funded by the Ministry of Education in the framework of the call for funding for research projects of the Higher Education, Science and Technology Office (GESCT).
According to this official, this document will reinforce the process of safeguarding, enhancing and protecting the Cidade Velha as a World Heritage site.
“The Cidade Velha Archaeological Map will be a very important and indispensable document in the urban management of the Cidade Velha as an archaeological site. It will also serve as a guiding document and will show more about the potential of the Cidade Velha,” he said.
