Praia, Aug 9 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde now has two chess players accredited by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) with the title WCM (Candidate for Women’s Master) awarded to Celia Rodriguez during the Olympics that take place in Chennai (India).
“Taking advantage of the ranking that Celia obtained in 2006, FCX request fot the respective title that was awarded to her today,” explained the president of the Cabo Verdean Chess Federation, Francisco Carapinha. The Cabo Verdean chess team is in Chennai (India), where it competes with two teams, the Open Section and Women’s Section, at the 44th Olympic Games, which runs from July 28 to August 10.
The selected Cabo Verdeans:
Open Team: IM Mariano Ortega (ODERF-Sal), Aires Fortes (GS Mindelense), Gil Teixeira (Casa Benfica Praia), David Mirulla (GS Mindelense), FI Célia Guevara (ODERF-Sal). Captain – FI Francisco Carapinha.
Women’s team: Divânia Spínola (EBSOM-Sal), Katlene Martins (EBSOM-Sal), Juliana Monteiro (GS Amarante), Jacira Almeida (Casa Benfica Praia), Akiane Moreno (EBSOM-Sal). Captain – DI Diogo Neves.
