Praia, Mar 8 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Sports and Youth, Carlos Monteiro, said this Wednesday that the Government expects to have the complete study of the I Census of Sport for implementation, at the end of May, within the framework of the new sports governance model.
The Minister of Sports and Youth gave this guarantee, in an interview to Inforpress, and advanced that the preliminary results of the first two phases of the I Census of Sport, which is now in its third and final phase of elaboration, were recently made public and will help the Government, federations, associations and other sports agents in the model of governance of Cape Verdean sport.
This is because he believes that this census has confirmed the need to invest more in Cape Verdean women’s sport, since 0.4% are federated against 11% for men, so he considered that, from now on, defining policies that help to find out about the obstacles that have prevented girls and women from reaching federated sport.
“This is an effort by several government departments, from the outset, we already have contacts with ICIEG to help us understand and overcome these obstacles. It will not only be with policies at the level of sport, but they will have to be policies at the level of education, access to employment, at the level of equality and gender equity, policies at the level of Health, as well as sexual and reproductive health”, he explained.
