Praia, Aug 13 (Inforpress) – The CCS-AIDS Executive Secretary considered the link between health and human rights essential for the triumph of HIV / AIDS policy when the objective is to certify the elimination of vertical transmission by 2020.
The Executive Secretary of the AIDS Coordinating Committee (CCS-AIDS), Celina Ferreira, made these remarks in a press statement on the sidelines of the workshop on “HIV / AIDS, Gender and Human Rights” promoted under the Cabo Verde preparation process for certifying the elimination of HIV vertical transmission.
“Cabo Verde is outlining the strategy and plan for certifying the elimination of HIV vertical transmission by 2020, and for that, there is a set of strategies that the country must respect, starting with the inclusion of people living with HIV and reducing stigma and discrimination”, she said, stressing that the workshop is the beginning of many other actions that will be developed in this area.
According to Celina Ferreira, the event is part of the programme for development and participation capacity of HIV-positive women in the response to eliminate vertical transmission in Cabo Verde with a view to facilitating the participation of the Network of People Living with HIV.
