Catholic Church looking forward the Government’s approval to move forward with women’s wing of Hope project

Praia, Jan 6 (Inforpress) – The Catholic Church expects the Government to grant the space located in São Jorginho to move forward with the women’s center as part of the Hope project to help women who use drugs and alcohol, announced today Dom Arlindo Furtado.

At the meeting, he held this morning with the President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, to present the new year’s greeting, Cardinal Arlindo Furtado said that, at this time, it is necessary to have a women’s wing to welcome these women and there are “alarming” cases and situations.

He explained that at this time a religious community in Brazil which has extensive experience in this area has shown itself to be available to collaborate and make its contribution here in Cabo Verde.

The idea of this project, according to the Cardinal, is to support women and girls who have problems with alcohol and drugs in recovery with monitoring in their society, their family and social insertion, so that the church can make its contribution in this regard.
