Praia, Nov 15 (Inforpress) – The executive director of Caritas Cabo Verde, Ronice Tavares, called for greater engagement in the fight against poverty and more empathy of Cabo Verdeans for people living in social vulnerability situations.
This person made these statements in an interview with Inforpress, on the sidelines of the activities carried out by Caritas Cabo Verde to mark the World Day of the Poor, which is celebrated on November 14.
“We are celebrating 45 years of Caritas Cabo Verde and the 5th anniversary of the establishment of World Day of the Poor, and taking into account we work with the most vulnerable people and to respond to the Pope Francis call and to show society we should be more empathetic to people, help them, love others, regardless of the differences, in favor of promoting social justice in Cabo Verde,” she said.
For Ronice Tavares, the establishment of the date is very important, because it helps in promoting and raising awareness about the existence of poor people in today’s societies, she explained.
