Praia, Aug 9 (Inforpress) – The president of the PAICV (opposition party), Janira Hopffer Almada, believes that the cancellation of the international tender for the sub-concession of the main ports of Cabo Verde by the current Government could jeopardize the credibility of the country.
Janira Hopffer Almada, who was speaking at a press conference, said that this international tender was launched with the support of international institutions such as the African Development Bank (AfDB), and recalled that there are commitments that the state of Cabo Verde should respect.
“When one begins to disregard international commitments without explaining the country the concrete reasons for this cancellation, with the consequences that may arise, we must all be aware that this will have negative impacts on our external credibility, our image and the evaluation the partners make about Cabo Verde,” she said.
Janira Hopffer Almada also stressed that the Government can not hide itself only in the justification that it has another vision to cancel this process and other actions, “putting in question the country’s own interests.”
