Cabo Verde wants to “drink from the Canary Islands experience” on zero plastic

Praia, Sep 16 (Inforpress) – The president of the National Assembly said that Cabo Verde wants to “drink from the Canary Islands experience” on zero plastics in the sea, in terms of legislation and good practices, and adapt them to the country reality.

Jorge Santos, who spoke to the press on Tuesday afternoon, at the end of the liaison group meeting of the tenth Atlantic Parliamentary Days, which took place by videoconference, considered that this is a “very expensive” issue and it has affected the whole world.

According to the president of the Parliament, this issue will also be the subject of debate at the Atlantic Parliamentary Days, scheduled to January 18-20, 2021, in São Vicente.

“The Canary Islands have already advanced with very modern legislation on zero plastic, and we are studying this possibility of having zero plastic in Cabo Verde”, he said, stressing that these good practices must be “studied and adapted” to the Cabo Verde reality.
