Cabo Verde needs to improve tourism strategy to make the sector sustainable – Economist

Praia , Sep 28 (Inforpress) – The economist Amílcar Monteiro said Wednesday that Cabo Verde has to create “concerted policies” and “improve its tourism strategy” to make the sector sustainable and with benefits for the local population.

The idea was defended by the economist moments before presenting the panel “Challenges for Sustainable Tourism in Cabo Verde”, in the margins of the conference “Sustainable Tourism, a tool for Development” promoted by the Association of Tourism, Gender and Sustainability in Cabo Verde & Diaspora, as part of the World Tourism Day, marked Wednesday, 27.

Amílcar Monteiro, who is also the manager of sustainable tourism page in Cabo Verde “thank thank”, said that for Cabo Verde to have sustainable tourism, there must be concerted policies and decisions, but also investments such as airports, roads, telecommunications and return to society in terms of quality of life.

He said that there is no sustainable tourism if there are no coordinated and concerted policies and decisions for Cabo Verde to follow the path of sustainable tourism.

In his opinion, for the much-desired sustainable tourism, the State must also focus on the development of agriculture, fisheries, industry, maritime inter-island transport, logistics, and integration of the archipelago.
