Praia, Aug 21 (Inforpress) – The President of the National Assembly said Saturday that Cabo Verde has already taken a “consistent and thought-out option” for “better integration” into the Economic Community for the Development of West African States (ECOWAS) and continent.
Jorge Santos made these statements to the press after a meeting with his counterpart from Guinea-Bissau, Cipriano Cassamá, who is visiting Cabo Verde.
“The year 2018 will be very special. It is a year in which Cabo Verde will have responsibilities in the ECOWAS and will also preside over the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) and we, as Parliament, will also be chairing the CPLP Parliamentary Assembly,” said Jorge Santos, adding that the country will also have a “very active” participation in the ECOWAS Parliament.
On the meeting with Cipriano Cassamá, he revealed he had received an invitation to attend an “important conference” of the Union of African Parliaments (UPA) to be held from November 6 to 10 in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso).
