Cabo Verde defends a Universal Declaration of Ocean Rights – Prime Ministerv

Lisbon, Jul 1 (Inforpress) – The Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva said at the meeting “TThe Ocean Race and Declaration of Ocean Rights” in Lisbon which Cabo Verde advocates a Universal Declaration of Ocean Rights.

Ulisses Correia e Silva expressed this position during the plenary session attended by the Government of the Seycheles, the Earth Law Centre, Mirpuri Foundation and the Danny Faure Foundation, and reiterated the idea in statements to the Cabo Verdean press at the end of the meeting.

“Cabo Verde is prepared and advocates a Universal Declaration of Ocean Rights. It is an initiative that is underway and there is a prospect for the admission of this Declaration by 2030, which will establish a set of applicable standards and rules to all countries in the world regarding the protection of the oceans,” he said.

According to the Prime Minister it is a “great struggle” underway that involves politicians, scientists, researchers, people connected to sport and the media, to “create a favorable context” to this Declaration.
