Cabo Verde chose the construction of the blue economy as one of its first priorities – President of the Republic

Luxembourg, May 24 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, said today, in Luxembourg, that Cabo Verde has chosen the construction of a blue economy as one of its top priorities, through various sectors, such as sustainable fishing.

The statement was made during a visit to the University of Luxembourg, as part of his State visit to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, from 23 to 25 May, at the invitation of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, having recalled that Cabo Verde has demonstrated that development is possible with few or no resources.

The construction of a blue economy, the energy transition and the use of digital economy are the pillars that José Maria Neves identified as necessary to diversify and transform the economy in a sustainable way.

“Cabo Verde chose the construction of a blue economy as one of its first priorities”, he said, considering that as a small island state, the natural resources of the archipelago “are an invaluable source of wealth” and the oceans and seas “offer a vast potential for sustainable economic development”.
