Cabo Verde “can be very useful” to the OECD – Minister for Foreign Affairs

Paris, Oct 4 (Inforpress) – Foreign Minister Luís Filipe Tavares said today at the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) headquarters in Paris that “Cabo Verde can be very useful to the OECD”.

The statements of the CaboVerdean diplomat were made to Lusa and RFI at the end of his speech at the 17th International Economic Forum on Africa, entitled “Entrepreneurs and the Industrialization of Africa”.

“We know that there are no African countries that are part of the OECD, but Cabo Verde is a country that has a great ambition to be part of the community of nations and, above all, to be useful to the world. We think that Cabo Verde can be very useful to the OECD, it is a Middle Atlantic country with good economic prospects. We are building interesting partnerships for the development of our country, for the stability of our region and I believe we will get there, “he said.

Luís Filipe Tavares said that Cabo Verde’s accession process to the OECD “will start now” and “it takes time, four or five years,” adding that a delegation of the organization will travel to the Praia city  on 16, 17 and 18 October.
