Santa Maria, Sept 2 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde and Spain initialled an agreement of understanding focused on tourism and investment promotion, on the sidelines of the 64th meeting of the UNWTO Regional Commissions in Africa, which will take place in Sal from this Thursday.
The document was signed on Wednesday in one of the hotels in the tourist city of Santa Maria, between the Minister of Tourism and Transport of Cabo Verde, Carlos Santos, and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism of Spain, Maria Reyes Maroto Illera, in order to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in these sectors.
Expressing satisfaction at the presence of the Spanish ruler who visits the country for the first time, Carlos Santos, stressed that the signing of this agreement is “a great opportunity”, since Cabo Verde is a country very dependent on tourism, and can “drink” from the experience of the Kingdom of Spain over the years has bet much on tourism and has a much greater evolution in this area.
For her part, the Spanish Minister, Reyes Maroto Illera, highlighted the fact that, through this agreement, “important commitments” have been made so that the two governments can work together to “leverage” the tourism sector, aiming at the development of a sustainable economy, generating jobs and social welfare.
