Praia, Jul 28 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde and Portugal resume essential weekly flights from August 1, via Praia and Mindelo, with testing on the COVID-19 in both directions, announced Monday the Cabo Verdean Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The announcement of the creation of an air corridor between the two countries was made during a press conference in Praia, in which Luís Filipe Tavares was flanked by the Portuguese ambassador in Cabo Verde, António Moniz.
The official explained that the decision to carry out these flights follows a request made by Portugal, guaranteeing, in this sense, that all sanitary conditions will be guaranteed and passengers will only be able to travel after PCR testing (Polymerase Chain Reaction) negative COVID-19.
The flights, for family, business, studies, professional, official and humanitarian reasons, will be carried out by companies from both countries, namely TAP, SATA and Cabo Verde Airlines.
“The condition demanded by the Portuguese government, taking into account the recommendations of the European Union, has to do with carrying out tests in both directions”, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Communities, stressing that these flights will allow Cabo Verde and Portugal to continue economically and socially connected.
