Praia, Nov 10 (Inforpress) – The Government of Cabo Verde foresees a review of the national tax system in 2021, pointing as possibilities changes to the model of tax benefits or the bases of incidence of the Value Added Tax (VAT).
The position appears in the document with the guidelines for the 2021 State Budget law proposal, which will be discussed in the coming days in the Cabo Verdean parliament, and which establishes the need for “review of the national tax system”.
In the document, the Government states that the Cabo Verdean tax system “has undergone profound changes as a result of reforms and adjustments over the past decade”. However, it point out that despite this “great qualitative leap “there are still” aspects to be improved taking into account the balance in the distribution of the tax burden, the country’s macroeconomic objectives and the trend of international taxation”.
That is why the Government admits that “they can be subject to review with the aim of introducing a substantial improvement in tax and organizational efficiency and effectiveness”, right from the start of the allocation of tax benefits.
