Brava: President of the Republic honors the composer, singer and violinist Raul de Pina

Nova Sintra, Oct 27 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, awarded, on Tuesday, posthumously, in Nova Sintra, the composer, singer and violinist, Raul de Pina from Brava, for the contribution he made to the Brava culture and the country.

Speaking to the press, the Head of State explained that he had already had the opportunity to honors other personalities who have contributed to Brava culture, and today, even later, he was able to award “Nhô Raul” as he was known.

“Nhô Raul was a great figure and this was the least the State of Cabo Verde could do and did it through my person,” Jorge Carlos Fonseca said.

Raul de Pina was a composer, singer and guitarist from Brava, known primarily for the longevity of his artistic career, having produced a century of music from the days of Eugénio Tavares. 

He died at the age of 103, leaving 29 children alive, out of a total of 38, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
