Praia, Sep 11 (Inforpress) – Cape Verdean international boxers Carina Varela and Bruno Fernandes, both resident in France, and Admilson Carvalho, resident in the country, qualified this Sunday in Dakar (Senegal) for the second round of the African Olympic qualification tournament for Paris’2024.
According to information provided by the Cape Verdean Olympic Committee (COC), Carina Varela and Bruno Fernandes won their fights, but Lenick Fernandes (51Kg) and Elisandro Silva (57Kg) fell by the wayside.
The Cabo Verdean Boxing Federation (FCB) reports that Bruno Fernandes eliminated Christian Alim Thomas, from Sierra Leone and that Admilson Carvalho also made it to the next stage in the 63.5Kg category.
The Creole boxer in the 80kg category Israel Nzewi fell by the wayside, according to the FCB, after losing the fight against Gebhard Ipinge, from Namibia.
