Boxing: David Pina beats Zambian boxer in African championship debut

Praia, Sep 13 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verdean international boxer David Pina made his debut on Monday with victory at the African Boxing Championships, with a triumph over Zambian athlete Kelvin Hachilala in the 51-54 kilogram category.

In a match played at the Academic Pavilion of Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo, David Pina was stronger than his opponent and won all three rounds with a high score.

“David Pina played with strategy and beat the Zambian with top marks a unanimous victory of the juris,” writes the Facebook page of the Cabo Verdean Olympic Committee (COC).

The athlete Nancy Moreira, after the draw and, by delay of some countries, competes next Saturday, the 17th, the final of the of 63-66 kilograms category with the Algerian Ichrak Chaib, bronze medal athlete in the Turkey World Championship.

Cabo Verde participates in the African Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championships, which takes place from 11 to 18 September in Maputo, Mozambique, with two athletes.

The competition has the representation of 35 countries, with a little more than 400 athletes.
