Boa Vista: PAICV will propose a museum in the house where Aristides Pereira was born in Fundo de Figueiras

Sal Rei, Jan 21 (Inforpress) – PAICV will propose to the authorities the creation of a house-museum where Aristides Pereira was born, in Fundo de Figueiras, in addition to investments to preserve the memory of the national hero and first President of the Republic of Cabo Verde.

The member of the National Political Commission of the African Party of Independence of Cabo Verde (PAICV), Walter Évora, made this statement to Inforpress after laid a wreath at the Aristides Pereira grave, this Thursday, National Heroes Day, when the anniversary of Amílcar Cabral’s death is celebrated and those who fought for the country’s independence are honored.

The PAICV CPN member said that together with other party members, Elvis Lima, Risete Évora and the independence fighter, João Pereira Silva, “fulfilled the mission in this symbolic act, in honor and tribute to Aristides Pereira, first President of the Republic of Cabo Verde, and to all the other national heroes who fought for our freedom and independence for Cabo Verde ”.

According to Walter Évora, who is a national MP, the PAICV argues that “the house in which Aristides Pereira was born, in Fundo das Figueiras, should be better used to preserve the house and a set of photographic records, speeches, insignia, pictures related to Aristides Pereira, who could be exposed to preserve his memory and the history of the national liberation struggle.
