Sal Rei, Jan 28 (Inforpress) – The island of Boa Vista opened its first Employment and Professional Training Center on Monday, a government investment through the Institute of Employment and Professional Training (IEFP), Luxembourg Cooperation and the City Hall.
“(…) This is one of the biggest investments we are making here in Boa Vista, which is investing in people, in professional qualifications, in well-being, giving people the tools so that they can take care of their future, so that they can live the sweat of their efforts,”said Deputy Prime Minister, Olavo Correia, during the inauguration, highlighting the partnerships with the City Hall of Boa Vista and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
The government official promised to give the island’s young people the qualifications they need and create opportunities for none to be left out, under the argument that parents do not have the financial means to pay for vocational training.
“We cannot allow the country’s poverty to be an argument to perpetuate the poverty of children,” said the Minister of Finance, referring to the need to break this vicious cycle of poverty with the tool of access to education and professional training, independent of the country’s financial resources, and through job center facilities on all islands.
The president of the IEPF Board of Directors, Paulo Sanches, considered today to be a day of joy for the young people of Boa Vista, and in its 25 years of existence, the institute has become an effective presence on the “island of the dunes”.
