Sal Rei, Jul 1 (Inforpress) – The Boa Vista Island already has the first Gender-Based Victim Support Centre (GBV), an institution that will focus on preventing cases of violence and raising awareness among communities.
This information was forwarded to Inforpress by the psychologist at the Cabo Verdean Institute for Gender Equality and Equity (ICIEG) Adriana Correia, responsible for the centre which started operating in June, on the premises of the island’s City Hall.
In Boa Vista Island, a victim support office was already operating, located in the Boa Esperança neighborhood, but according to Adriana Correia, due to the circumstances of the pandemic and other situations that arose, it became necessary to resume the office operation.
“At the moment, we will respond to all cases that arise in the Police and we will also bet heavily on prevention work in cases of GBV, in addition to that we will always be available for situations that may occur or other needs may exist,” she said.
