Sal Rei, Feb 23 (Inforpress) – Health authorities and local authorities confirmed Monday suspicion of African swine fever in the island of Boa Vista, detected on pig farms located in the industrial zone of the city of Sal-Rei.
This information was published on the page of the City Hall of Boa Vista where it is reported the local authority and the Delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in Boa Vista, the National Police and the Health Centre confirm suspicion of positive cases of antibodies of African swine fever (PSA) in seven of the 31 samples sent to the veterinary laboratory of the Directorate of Livestock Service (DSP).
The City Hall of Boa Vista also confirms that “the suspicion of African swine fever was detected in pig farms located in the industrial zone of the City of Sal-Rei, better known as pigsty”.
Therefore, they inform that the “health and police authorities will strengthen surveillance to the following situations, which are totally prohibited, at this stage, among them, the slaughter of pigs without proper authorization, the movement of pigs within the island and the movement of pigs, their products and derivatives from Boa Vista to the other islands.
