Praia, Feb 18 (Inforpress) – The cardinal and bishop of the Diocese of Santiago on Wednesday appealed to Catholic Christians to take advantage of the Lent period, which begins today and lasts for 40 days, to promote their “transformation and conversion”.
In his message alluding to the beginning of Lent, a period of preparation for Easter, Dom Arlindo Furtado recalled that it is a time of penance in which everyone is called to reflect on their experience in confrontation with the word of God.
“You have to meditate. It is the confrontation of our life with the word of God that provokes in God this awareness of limits, of faults and the need for change, of regrets for our faults does not help us to be perfect, and to make the effort of renewal with the conversion process, ”he said.
“It is the effort of penance, this effort that I make to be better overcoming my faults in the relationship with God, in the relationship with myself and in the relationship with others and in the way I deal with nature with the environment”, he added.
