Praia, 21 May (Inforpress) – Cape Verdean international basketball player Edy Tavares won the Euro league this Sunday in Real Madrid’s victory over Olympiacos (78-79) and was considered MVP (most valuable player) of the competition.
In the final in Kaunas, Lithuania, Edy Tavares scored 13 points, 10 rebounds and two assists, helping the Madrid side to victory in the final three seconds of the match.
“The untamed giant does it again and crowns in the Euro league”, writes the Spanish newspaper “The Mark”, after Edy Tavares is crowned as the best player in the competition.
Real Madrid clinch their 11th European title in their 20th final in history.
The two teams met for the fourth time in the final. The merengues won three (1994/95, 2014/15 and 2022/23) and the Greeks won one (2012/13).
Edy Tavares joined Real Madrid in November 2017 after a stint in the North American Basketball League (NBA) with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the NBA’s D-League’s Raptors 905.
