Basketball: Cape Verde ends 2022 as the eighth best team in Africa

Praia, December 27, 2022 (Inforpress) – The Cape Verde men’s basketball team ends 2022 as the eighth best African team in the sport, corresponding to the 66th worldwide, according to the latest update of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), with 148.08 points.

Cape Verde, which Inforpress found from this body that governs basketball at the highest level, is supplanted in Africa by the national combined of Nigeria (first, with 460.01 points), Tunisia, Senegal, Angola, Ivory Coast , from Egypt and South Sudan (seventh, 160.02).

In a universe of 164 countries that make up the men’s basketball world ranking, Spain leads the list with 758.06 points, followed by the United States of America in second place with 757.05 and Australia, which closes the podium with 740.03 points.

The Cape Verdean men’s basketball team qualified, in June, for the second qualifying round for the 2023 World Cup, to be played in Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia.
