Banco de Cabo Verde draws attention to the importance of introducing financial education into the school curriculum

Praia, Mar 23 (Inforpress) – The coordinator at Market Conduct Supervision of Banco de Cabo Verde (BCV) defended the importance of introducing financial education into the school curriculum, so that children can have financial training from early age.

Helton Carvalho was speaking on Monday at the Capelinha Elementary School in Fazenda, on the sidelines of Global Money Week 2021 running from today to Sunday, 28th, in the elementary and secondary schools in Santiago, Sal and Fogo, under the theme “Take care of yourself, take care of your money!”

“The BCV has joined this initiative since 2019, but was suspended in 2020 due the COVID-19 pandemic, and this year was resumed”, the coordinator told reporters.

The aim, according to Helton Carvalho, is to demonstrate to children the importance of financial education and savings, and, above all, parents are not an “inexhaustible source” of financial resources, and also to show the importance of having “balance” between what is a “need” and what is “desire”.
