Praia, Jun 17 (Inforpress) – The Cabo Verdean author, composer and interpreter Antero Simas died this Thursday in the United States of America at the age of 69, a victim of a prolonged illness, a family source confirmed.
Antero Euclides Simas Correia e Silva was born in Praia on October 7, 1952, and was currently living in the USA for health reasons. A former ASA employee, almost all of his musical experience took place on the Sal Island.
He won the Career Award by Cabo Verdean Music Society (SCM), who, although absent, did not fail to send his message via video, demonstrating his satisfaction and emotion for the choice of his name.
“My emotions have no limits, maybe I didn’t deserve God to give me so much. It is extraordinary what I received from God, SCM and Cabo Verde. Thank you to all Cabo Verdeans!” said Antero Simas, who was represented in person by his grandchildren and daughter Miriam Simas.
