Praia, Aug 23 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, said he hoped that the Angolan elections to be held this Wednesday will take place in a “peacefully, quiet, fair and democratic” and whatever the result, Cabo Verde will respect.
The head of state made the remarks today at Praia city, outside the Spanish embassy, where he signed the book of condolences in honor of the 15 victims of the Barcelona bombing.
According to Jorge Carlos Fonseca, the State of Cabo Verde is monitoring the Angolan elections with “great interest”, for various reasons, namely for being a “friendly country” and sharing the space of the African Countries of the Official Portuguese Language (PALOP), Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) and the African Union.
And because it is a country that has a common history with Cabo Verde and shares “many values” and the presence of a strong Cabo Verdean community, said the head of State.
The PR also assured that Cabo Verde will work with “all diligence and interest” with the new authorities coming out of these elections, strengthening the relationship of cooperation and friendship.
