Ambassador of the European Union praises the implementation of SIPAO in Cabo Verde

Praia, May 10 (Inforpress) – The European Union ambassador to Cabo Verde today highlighted the implementation of SIPAO in the country, to expand the police information system to the various police services and courts in the fight against crime

Ana Grijó congratulated the Government, particularly the Minister of Justice, Joana Rosa, for “its commitment to make this program a success story”, stressing that the exchange of data and the synergy of actions between the different law enforcement agencies, appear as an absolute necessity to face the challenge, as crime knows no borders.

The diplomat clarified that the idea of SIPAO was launched by the ECOWAS chief of police, in view of the security challenges in the sub-region, and that the European Union Commission had already in 2010, in Brussels, expressed its support for this innovative idea, as it allows beneficiary countries to have a national, centralised system for the automated collection and sharing of police data.
