Afrobasket 2021: Cabo Verde complains about FIBA’s decision to reschedule games with Uganda

Praia, Mar 4 (Inforpress) – The Cabo Verdean Basketball Federation expressed “surprise” Wednesday with FIBA’s decision to reschedule pending games with Uganda for the second qualifying round of Afrobasket 2021.

At issue is the FIBA decision that scheduled the pending Group E qualifying games for Afrobasket 2021, postponed in February because of COVID-19 which affected the National team of Uganda between June 15 and July 15, in a place to be defined.

At the time, the National team of Uganda was prevented to play any game for the Qualifying Tournament second round of the Group E, held in Monastir (Tunisia), as five positive cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed in this delegation.

The president of the national federation, Mário “Marito” Correia, in an interview with the RCV, stated that the body governs Cabo Verdean basketball has already sent a letter to FIBA to complain about this decision and the board will struggle to see the possibility of getting this decision back.
