Praia, May 25 (Inforpress) – The transport problems remains one of the “obstacles” in Cabo Verde’s regional integration process, consider Cabo Verdean MPs elected by the African constituency and members of ECOWAS Parliament.
In an interview with Inforpress, in the framework of the Africa Day celebrations, observed today, May 25, both the MpD’s MP (ruling party) and the PAICV’s MP (opposition party), stressed the need for the country to strengthen the process of its integration with ECOWAS and the African continent, as well as some steps taken in this direction.
The Movement for Democracy’s MP (MpD) Orlando Dias, elected by the African constituency, highlighted the importance of the countries’ economic, social and political integration, stressing that Cabo Verde has recently taken “important steps” in this direction.
“Now we have a specific ministry for the issue of regional and African integration. Cabo Verde has important basic conditions, as it is one of the countries with the best democracy in Africa, with political, social and economic stability, basic conditions for integration,” he said. However, he stressed that due to the smallness of the country and the small number of inhabitants, Cabo Verde’s regional integration appears to be even more important.
