Africa Day / COVID-19: PR says pandemic could prove to be a major obstacle to Africa’s development goals

Praia, May 25 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic of Cabo Verde, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, warned today that the COVID-19 pandemic, which afflicts everyone at the moment, could prove to be a major obstacle to Africa’s development goals.

In his message referring to Africa Day, which is being celebrated today, the Cabo Verdean Head of State is confident that with “determination, desire to build a better life, efforts and capacity to overcome difficulties”, as well as “international solidarity in combating the pandemic effects”, it will be possible to overcome this “difficult phase” that countries and the continent are going through.

Jorge Carlos Fonseca took the opportunity to address, in a gesture of solidarity, a word of comfort to all countries and governments of the continent countries that, in one way or another, have suffered from this pandemic with loss of human life.

And in these times that are proving difficult at the global level due to the pandemic, the President of the Republic also left a word of encouragement for everyone to remain firm in this “demanding fight” and requires from each person and each community “special attention” to preventive measures .
