ACLCVBG welcomes Approval of GBV Victim Support Fund

Praia, Mar 29 (Inforpress) – The president of the Cabo Verdean Association for the Fight Against Gender-Based Violence (ACLCVBG) welcomed the approval, by the Council of Ministers, of the statutes of the Support Fund for Victims of Gender-Based Violence.

“We are very pleased with this decision by the Government to approve the GBV Victim Support Fund because, in fact, it is a gap that was in the law because it was not being implemented, after 11 years of the creation of the GBV Law. Finally, we already have the fund approved”, said Vicenta Fernandes in statements to Inforpress.

This associate also said that she hoped that the fund would, in fact, be earmarked for victims and that it would meet the expectations of civil society organizations on this issue, taking into account the vulnerability of GBV victims.

The approval of the Statutes of the Support Fund for Victims of Gender-Based Violence, which provide for the guarantee of material, social, psychological, psychiatric and legal assistance to victims of GBV, was announced today at a press conference by the Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and Parliamentary Affairs, Janine Lélis.
