Praia, Oct 4 (Inforpress) – The president of the Cabo Verdean Academy of Letters (ACL) defends the need to meet men and women of Cabo Verdean culture so that everyone can be proud of the country.
David Hopffer Almada was speaking to the press just moments before the tribute session to the writer Teixeira de Sousa, promoted by ACL and the Pedro Pires Foundation, this afternoon, at the IILP-Casa Cor-de-Rosa, in Praia.
Regarding the tribute to the brilliant Teixeira de Sousa, the ACL president stated that the organization’s “principle and duty” is to make known to the Cabo Verdean people and the world their values of literature.
“The academy is the Academy of Letters, so it takes up a lot of culture in general, but especially what is linked to literature,” said David Hopffer Almada, announced for future honors to other figures as “a firm stand” of the current ACL management. Continuing, Almada considered that it is necessary to know “the great men and women” of culture and, above all, of literature, so that everyone can be proud of this country.
