“A Minha Idade” wins 3rd edition of the contest “Short Stories  Gender Equality”

Praia, Oct 14 (Inforpress) – The short story “A Minha Idade” by Néliciete Barbosa Tavares, a student at Domingos Ramos High School, is the big winner of the third edition of the Short Stories Gender Equality contest, the Cabo Verdean Institute for Gender Equality (ICIEG) reported today.

Ariete da Veiga Moniz, 18, from Luciano Garcia High School, São Lourenço dos Órgãos, is the second ranked with the short story “Metamorfose”, and thirdly was Mauro Almeida, 15, from the Salesian School of Arts and Crafts, São Vicente, with the work “Minha missão de salvamento”.

Winners will be awarded a laptop for the first place, a tablet for the second one and a smartphone for the third, and the remaining contestants will receive a participation award.

In a statement, ICIEG explains that this competition comes within the framework of gender equality in order to encourage high school students to know, reflect and act for equality.
