Praia, Jul 19 (Inforpress) – Portugal made available to Cabo Verde on Friday a second batch of 24.000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines against COVID-19, accompanied by medical devices necessary to enable its administration, including syringes and needles, an official source said.

A statement from the Portuguese Embassy in Cabo Verde reports the new donation arrived on Friday, July 16, to the City of Praia on TAP’s night flight, and was immediately handed over to the Cabo Verdean health authorities.

With the donation of this second batch, there are 48.000 doses of vaccines have been made available by Portugal, to date, to support the Cabo Verde Vaccination Plan. The first batch, in equal numbers, arrived in the country last May.

“This action results from the political commitment to make at least five percent of (%) vaccines against COVID-19 acquired by Portugal, being framed in the second phase of the Action Plan in the health response to the COVID-19 pandemic between Portugal and the Portuguese Speaking African countries and East Timor”, it reads.
